Nigeria’s broadband market is set for a significant new investment after Afro Mobile announced the acquisition of a 40% equity stake in ISAT Group, alongside a planned US$3 billion financing programme aimed at expanding high-speed internet infrastructure across the country.
The transaction, announced by the two companies, is expected to underpin the commercial launch of a new indigenous broadband service in the third quarter of 2026, targeting homes, businesses, government institutions and underserved communities across Nigeria.
The investment combines Afro Mobile’s strategic acquisition with a US$3 billion financing package structured by Equiline Finance, marking one of the largest privately announced indigenous broadband investment initiatives in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry in recent years.
The announcement also coincides with the unveiling of a new corporate identity by ISAT Group, which says the rebranding reflects its evolution into a next-generation digital connectivity company focused on broadband, satellite communications and enterprise technology solutions.
