I understand why people ask. Buying a smartphone online in Nigeria is easier than ever, but knowing whether the store you’re paying is actually genuine is still the hard part.
Almost every week, someone tells me a version of the same story. They paid for a phone that never arrived, or the device that showed up was refurbished and sold as brand new. Finding a website isn’t hard. What matters is whether that store consistently sells genuine phones, honours its warranty, and supports you after the sale.
Here’s what I personally check before spending money on any phone.
1. Look for a proper website, not just a DM inbox
A proper online phone store has detailed product pages, a secure checkout, clear contact information, and terms you can read before you commit to anything. If all a seller has is a social media page and a personal account number for payment, that’s worth pausing on.
2. Know exactly what you’re buying
Every listing should state clearly whether the phone is brand new, refurbished, UK-used, or open-box, along with the storage, RAM, colour, and what’s included in the box. The more specific the listing, the more confidence you can have in the seller.
