“FG committed to welfare of military veterans” – SGF Akume

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and well-being of Nigeria’s military veterans, acknowledging their sacrifices in defending the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, gave the assurance on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, when he received a delegation from the National Council of the Nigerian Legion, led by its Chairman, Ms. Grace Morenike Henry.

Akume said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains dedicated to improving the lives of retired military personnel who served with courage and patriotism.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is proud of the Nigerian military, both serving and retired. Their sacrifices have laid the foundation for the peace and stability we enjoy today.

“As a government, we remain committed to ensuring that our veterans are treated with dignity, respect, and the care they deserve,” the SGF said.
