Following the devastating fire outbreak at Bode Market in Ibadan, Oyo State, political leaders have stepped in with financial and material support to assist affected traders.
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South under the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced a donation of ₦25 million to victims of the inferno.
He emphasized that leadership must go beyond rhetoric, stressing the importance of empathy and tangible support in times of crisis.
“People-oriented governance requires prompt response, empathy and tangible support for citizens in moments of crisis. The donation of ₦25 million to the affected traders is to show our commitment to the people’s welfare,” Alli stated.
The APC Women Leader in the state, Adekemi Opatunde, also contributed ₦5 million and distributed 15,000 nose masks to enhance safety measures within the market environment.
Her intervention was warmly received, especially by women traders, who described the gesture as timely and encouraging.
