Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on President Bola Tinubu to disclose the individuals responsible for the alleged theft of two per cent of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Atiku’s demand followed a revelation by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which reported that Nigeria omitted public expenditure equivalent to two per cent of its GDP from recent budgets.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described the disclosure as evidence of entrenched institutional corruption under Tinubu’s administration.
He argued that the omission is not a mere accounting error but a constitutional and moral scandal.
Citing Section 80 of the Nigerian Constitution, Atiku stressed that no funds should be withdrawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund without proper legislative approval.
