Umahi Defends Coastal Highway, Says Critics Driven by Envy

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has dismissed criticisms of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, describing opponents as envious of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking in Lagos, Umahi argued that Nigerians already using sections of the road are benefiting from it, insisting that attacks on the project are politically motivated.

“Why are you attacking the coastal highway? Just two minutes we had to stay with the National Assembly, we saw a buildup of up to five kilometers. Who are the people using it? Our people are using it and they are enjoying it,” he said.

Umahi maintained that those attributing negative developments to the project “are people born out of envy and jealousy,” adding that critics “never believed Tinubu is a man of audacity, a dreamer, and an actualizer.”
