When the earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, Bishop Juan Carlos Bravo Salazar of Petare was in Mérida, more than 370 miles away. All flights had been cancelled. He had no choice but to make the 10-hour journey back by road. What he found when he arrived was not what he expected.
