The Federal Government is accelerating efforts to establish 112 as Nigeria’s single national emergency number, a move aimed at unifying emergency communications and strengthening coordination among first responders nationwide.
The initiative is expected to enhance the country’s emergency response architecture by providing citizens with a single, toll-free number to access emergency services while improving collaboration among security, medical and disaster management agencies.
Nigeria’s 112 emergency number is designed as a universal emergency line that enables callers to reach multiple emergency services, including the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Fire Service, ambulance services, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through a single number, regardless of their mobile network.
