‘Every Nigerian should register, obtain National Identity Number’ — Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians who are yet to register for a National Identity Number (NIN) to do so, saying accurate population records are essential for effective national planning and improved service delivery.

In a message to mark this year’s World Population Day, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said Nigeria’s growing population makes it more important than ever for the government to have reliable data to plan for the country’s future.

She urged citizens to support this effort by registering for the NIN if they have not already done so.

“I encourage every Nigerian to register and obtain a National Identity Number (NIN), if they have not done so,” she said.

According to the First Lady, accurate population data will help the government make informed decisions and provide essential services for the country’s expanding population.

“Accurate population data will enable the government to plan effectively and provide essential services for Nigeria’s growing population,” she added.

Mrs Tinubu also stressed the need for greater investment in people, especially women and young people, describing them as key to the nation’s future.

She said access to quality healthcare, education and opportunities should remain a priority to ensure every Nigerian has the chance to succeed.

“Today I join the global community in support of our commitment to building a future where every individual, especially women and young people, have access to quality healthcare, education and opportunities to reach their full potential,” she said.
