The Presidency has taken a swipe at the presidential candidate of the Nigeria D
emocratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, describing him as a “miracle centre presidential candidate” amid a fresh exchange over calls for a public debate.
The remark came from President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, following comments made by Obi during a recent interview in which he spoke about the possibility of debating the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
Obi had stated that he would only engage Umahi in a debate after the minister becomes the presidential candidate of a political party. His comment was in response to Umahi’s earlier challenge, where the minister expressed readiness to publicly debate the former Anambra State governor on issues relating to infrastructure development, particularly road projects across the country.
Reacting to Obi’s position, Bwala questioned the former Labour Party presidential candidate’s own path to the presidential race. He argued that
