The Nigerian Senate has identified four security operatives who paid the ultimate price during the daring rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The operation, which lasted 56 days, successfully freed dozens of victims held captive by terrorists.
According to Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who sponsored the motion alongside 108 senators, the rescue mission demonstrated both the resilience of Nigeria’s Armed Forces and the gravity of the security challenges facing the country.
He disclosed that Lieutenant F. A. Isaac, Private Silas Musa of the 81 Battalion, and Sergeant Abena John Jerome of the Nigeria Police Force were killed in action, while Lance Corporal Adamu Hussain sustained injuries.
The Senate also noted that one of the abducted teachers died in captivity, underscoring the human toll of the attack. Despite this, lawmakers hailed the successful release of the remaining victims as a remarkable achievement that restored hope among Nigerians.
