The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said its decision not to present a presidential candidate for the 2027 general election was deliberate, following the party’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
The party explained that the absence of its presidential candidate’s name on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal should not be interpreted as a failure to comply with electoral guidelines.
APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the party’s leadership had already resolved to back Tinubu’s re-election bid after what he described as extensive consultations within its ranks.
According to him, the decision was reached by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which concluded that supporting the president’s second-term ambition was in the overall interest of the country.
Opara stated that APGA remains an active participant in the electoral process despite not fielding a candidate for the presidency.
