Approximately 10,000 residents in Kwara have received healthcare services at no cost through a health initiative supported by the EU, as the local government enhances its financial investment in the health sector.
This initiative also reached 35,796 individuals via community outreach and led to 12,264 referrals to healthcare facilities, based on statistics shared during a review of the EU-SARAH partnership in Kwara, which were later made available to journalists in Abuja.
The review concentrated on the achievements under the initiative and strategies to maintain the progress through enhanced state funding, better coordination, and increased local ownership of health programs.
At the meeting, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, revealed that the percentage of the state budget allocated to health has increased from about four percent to 15 percent by 2026.
