Kwankwasiyya hails consensus aspirants, rallies support for NDC candidates ahead of Kano polls

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has praised aspirants who stepped down or accepted the outcome of its consensus candidate selection process, describing their conduct as a demonstration of political maturity and a key factor in strengthening the movement’s preparations for the forthcoming elections in Kano State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group said the willingness of aspirants to subordinate personal ambitions to collective interests had reinforced its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most disciplined political platforms.

The commendation comes as the movement intensifies efforts to consolidate support for candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to the statement, the consensus process covered aspirants seeking tickets for the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats.

The movement singled out Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga for what it described as exemplary statesmanship after he stepped aside in support of the emergence of former Kano State Deputy Governor, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, as the consensus candidate for the senatorial seat.

It also applauded former Kano State Governor and ex-Senator, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, for accepting the decision that produced former President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Nasir Batayya, as the senatorial candidate for Kano South.
The statement noted that several other aspirants across the state either relinquished their ambitions or accepted alternative responsibilities to preserve the unity of the movement.
