Lagos discovers 3,700 hectares of informal spaces

The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, has stated that as of December 2025, over 3,700 hectares of informal spaces have been discovered in over 1,700 locations in the state.

The Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, disclosed this on Friday in Lagos during the 2026 Ministerial Briefing in commemoration of the seventh year in office of Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Lagos State Governor.

Olumide highlighted the ministry’s strategic contributions to sustainable physical planning, environmental protection, infrastructure preservation, and effective management of public spaces across Lagos State.

Presenting the scorecard of the Lagos State Informal Space Management Authority, Olumide outlined several landmark achievements recorded by the agency in line with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the present administration.
