Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo has revealed that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Makinde spoke on Tuesday after meeting representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) at the state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan.
The groups had led a protest to the secretariat over the abduction, urging the governments at various levels and security agencies to rescue the abducted.
The governor said he listened to their concerns and assured them that authorities at all levels of government were working to secure the release of the victims.
