Nigerian Army increases troop allowances, airlifts over 300 personnel to visit their families

The Nigerian Army has increased troops’ allowances and expanded its welfare flight programme as part of efforts to improve the welfare of personnel serving in operational theatres.

The Army announced that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) welfare flight for June 2026 transported 332 military personnel into and out of the theatre of Operation HADIN KAI.

According to the military, the welfare flight was conducted on June 2 using a chartered ValueJet aircraft.

The army said 174 personnel were airlifted into the theatre while 158 personnel were flown out to reunite with their families and loved ones.

The military said a cumulative total of 33,097 personnel have benefited from the initiative since its inception.

According to the Army, the welfare flight programme enables soldiers deployed in operational areas to periodically visit their families.
