The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally ratified and endorsed the results of the party’s nationwide primary elections held ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was taken at the party’s second NEC meeting, which was attended by the NDC presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, his running mate Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, members of the National Working Committee, state chairmen, and other key stakeholders from across the country.
Senator Seriake Dickson, who issued a statement on the outcome on Thursday, said the NEC reviewed the party’s progress, assessed the conduct of the recently concluded primaries, and strategised on strengthening the party for the 2027 polls.
While acknowledging that some challenges and disagreements occurred in certain locations during the primaries, Dickson emphasised the NDC’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, fairness, and inclusion.
