Former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Sam Amadi, has cast doubt on the credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting that its voter registration system and election processes cannot be trusted.
Speaking in an interview with News Central Television on Friday, Amadi criticized INEC’s failure to electronically transmit election results, describing the commission’s explanation of a “glitch” as baseless.
“With all the issues around BVAS malfunctioning, which many people believe was internal sabotage by INEC itself, the first priority of any opposition party should be to demand an independent forensic audit of INEC,” he said.
Amadi argued that INEC had assured Nigerians of its readiness to transmit results electronically but failed to deliver on election day.
“INEC claimed there was a glitch, but there is no evidence or proof of such a glitch,” he added.
