NANS Rejects Alliance with Sowore’s Take It Back Movement

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has publicly distanced itself from the Take It Back (TIB) Movement led by activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, accusing the group of pursuing partisan political interests under the guise of activism.

In a statement issued in Abuja, NANS President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, said the association would not participate in protests organized by the movement, stressing that its advocacy approach differs significantly. 

He alleged that the TIB Movement has blurred the lines between activism, journalism, and politics, raising doubts about its true objectives.

Akinteye dismissed reports questioning his student status, affirming that he remains a bonafide student of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology. 

He criticized the publication behind the claims for failing to verify facts, urging media outlets to uphold professionalism and accuracy.

The NANS president further claimed that the TIB Movement is increasingly perceived as a political platform, with some linking it to groups
