Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have successfully thwarted multiple kidnapping attempts, including an abduction bid on a pastor and his wife, while rescuing a total of 10 victims in coordinated operations across Plateau and Kaduna states.
Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Spokesman for the Joint Military Task Force, disclosed this in a statement released in Jos on Sunday. The operations, carried out within the last 48 hours, involved aggressive manhunts for fleeing suspects and underscored the military’s commitment to securing highways and communities in the Joint Operations Area.
In Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, troops from Sector 6 responded to a highway blockade by suspected kidnappers along the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sayin axis around 12:30 a.m. on June 5, 2026. They discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Honda vehicle (registration APP-93CF) and launched a search in the surrounding bushes, successfully rescuing six kidnapped passengers.
