Babachir Lawal: “I Won’t Be Intimidated” Over Atiku ‘Kachalla’ Remark

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has declared that he will not be silenced by online criticism following his controversial description of African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as “Kachalla,” a notorious bandit leader.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page late Saturday, Lawal insisted that his comments were made in the interest of national discourse and accountability.

He expressed frustration over what he described as coordinated online attacks, noting that many critics resorted to personal insults rather than engaging with the substance of his arguments.

“I have come under heavy attacks, insults, and threats following my earlier comments, which were being taken out of context. I will not be intimidated by online criticism,” Lawal said.

He emphasized that public office aspirants must be subject to scrutiny regarding their records, competence, and public statements, stressing that such interrogation is a vital part of democratic engagement.
