The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it has intercepted large consignments of opioids and other illicit substances concealed in a truck conveying building materials in Taraba State, while also arresting a 75-year-old man in Ebonyi and four female drug suspects in separate operations across Edo, Imo, Kano and Gombe states.
This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja.
According to the agency, the Taraba interception followed credible intelligence that led operatives to a truck conveying building materials from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Jalingo.
“A thorough search of the vehicle by NDLEA operatives at the Nukkai Timber Shade, Jalingo, led to the discovery of a massive drug stash concealed beneath the cargo, while a 22-year-old suspect, Buhari Abdullahi, was promptly arrested,” the statement said.
