The Edo State Police Command has arrested Uzebor Emmanuel, popularly known on social media as “Aza Woman,” for allegedly spreading false reports about the kidnapping of students in Benin City.
Emmanuel had claimed that students of Green Park Academy, Aduwawa, were abducted, a story that quickly went viral but was later debunked by police.
The command said the false publication caused unnecessary panic and undermined public confidence in the state’s security system.
In a statement on Sunday, police spokesperson SP Eno Ikoedem confirmed the arrest, noting that preliminary investigations revealed the suspect knowingly circulated misleading posts alleging that six persons were kidnapped in transport buses, with some escaping and others paying ransom.

Ikoedem warned that spreading false information on matters of public safety is a serious offence with far-reaching consequences.
