NDC Removes Kwankwaso’s Candidates in Kano Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has replaced a number of candidates earlier put forward by the Kwankwasiyya bloc in Kano State, in what appears to be a fresh move to enforce a political agreement reached between both sides ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Politics Nigeria reports that the changes were contained in an internal party document reportedly signed by the Kano State Chairman of the party, Hon. Hussaini Isah Mairiga.

The revised list was said to have been prepared to reflect a power-sharing arrangement between the NDC structure in the state and the Kwankwasiyya movement.

The development is expected to reopen discussions over the sharing of party positions as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next election cycle.

According to the document, copies were forwarded to the party’s national leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and the NDC North-West Zonal Chairman, Alhaji
