The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed a derailment involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service, with four coaches reportedly running off the track on Monday.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja by Kayode Opeifa, the managing director and CEO of the NRC, the corporation said emergency response teams and relevant authorities were immediately deployed to the scene to manage the situation and assist affected passengers.
The NRC said that it was monitoring the development closely and working to determine the cause and extent of the incident.
“The Nigerian Railway Corporation confirms that an incident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service occurred today,” Opeifa said.
