
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has doused a fire outbreak triggered by a mobile phone battery explosion at Tecno Complex, Mokola Roundabout, Ibadan, Oyo State.
A statement on Tuesday, issued by the state’s fire services chairman, Moroof Akinwande, disclosed that the incident happened at about 8:15pm on Monday.
Akinwande noted that fire personnel led by ACFS Amoo promptly mobilised to the scene, following a distress call from Oluyomade Adepeju, that a shop had been engulfed by fire at Tecno Complex Roundabout, Mokola, Ibadan.
He added that the agency’s firefighters swiftly contained and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjoining shops and nearby properties.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was caused by the explosion of a mobile phone battery, which ignited nearby combustible materials.
