FG to link Lagos airports by rail, approves $500m MMIA upgrade

The Federal Government has announced plans to integrate rail connectivity across the Murtala Muhammed Airport complex, linking MMIA, the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), and MMA2 for smoother passenger movement.

Festus Keyamo, Aviation Minister  disclosed this recently at the Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit, noting that the project, in partnership with the Lagos State Government, will extend the Lagos rail network directly into the airport terminals.

Keyamo also revealed that President Bola Tinubu has approved a $500 million (N712 billion) modernisation of MMIA, which includes terminal upgrades, new access roads, a skywalk, and expanded passenger facilities.

The initiatives follows the resolution of the long-running MMA2 concession dispute and are expected to boost investor confidence while strengthening Lagos’s position as a leading aviation and commercial hub in Africa.
