The Kano State Hisbah Board says it has conducted mandatory medical screening for 720 of the 3,000 couples registered for the planned mass wedding programme in the state.

The Board’s Deputy Commander-General, Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen, disclosed this in a telephone interview with The PUNCH on Wednesday.

“The board has so far screened 720 couples from the 24 local government areas of the state,” the deputy commander-general said.

He said couples from the Kano metropolitan area have been directed to visit the state headquarters of the Agency for the Control of AIDS at the Na’ibawa area for screening.

Aminudeen added that screening for couples from the remaining local government areas will be conducted at a later date to be announced by the board, urging affected couples to await further directives.
