Senate Committee Warns BOA, REA, NSPMC Over Audit Hearing Absences

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has threatened sanctions against the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC), and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) for failing to attend a scheduled hearing on unresolved audit queries.

Committee chairman Ibrahim Dankwambo issued the warning after the agencies ignored invitations to appear before lawmakers.

The BOA, through its legal adviser, claimed it had previously engaged with the committee between February 2023 and November 2024 and resolved outstanding issues.

It requested two weeks to compile documents, but Dankwambo rejected the plea, insisting that correspondence must be signed by the bank’s managing director and that only chief executives can represent agencies before the Senate.

Lawmakers ruled that the BOA’s managing director must appear within one week, stressing that unresolved audit concerns remain.

They also directed the NSPMC and REA to attend hearings within the same timeframe, warning that continued disregard for legislative summons undermines accountability.
