La Roja are the current European champions and have been tipped by many pundits to become world champions.
De Le Fuentes’ men are in Group H along with debutants Cape Verde, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
Opta has given Spain a 16.0% chance of winning the World Cup, while France are in second with 12.9%.
England are in third place with a 10.8% probability of winning it for the first time since 1966.
The tournament kicks off Thursday night with Mexio, one of the co-hosts taking on South Africa.
