The Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has sealed an unregistered health facility, Vick-Benedict’s Home, and some maternity homes in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state, over alleged illegal and unprofessional medical practices.
A team of officials from the state Ministry of Health, led by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, sealed the facility on Thursday after investigations uncovered its alleged illegal operations without an operational licence.
The sealed premises of the health facilities. Credit: Anambra govtDuring the exercise, the commissioner also sealed some illegal traditional birth attendant centres and maternity homes found to be operating in the area without authorisation from the Ministry of Health.
Speaking during the exercise, Obidike said the enforcement was part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal health practices and ensure quality healthcare delivery.
