
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects, namely Ganiyu Sodiq (35) and Salaudeen Sheriff (23), both residents of Komu, on Wednesday, in connection with the unlawful possession of ammunition.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed in a statement on Thursday, made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Ayanlade said the suspects were apprehended at Budo Pako, Oke-Oyan, where a total of 250 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
The command’s PPRO said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects could not provide any lawful explanation or satisfactory account regarding their possession of the recovered ammunition.
The statement read, “The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and ammunition and enhance public safety across the State.
