The Director of New Media and Strategic Communications for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has clarified that Blessing Fubara Snr, the elder brother of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is not the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State.
Agada made the clarification in response to media reports claiming that Fubara had been selected as the party’s standard-bearer.
Reacting to a story on X, Agada stated, “This person is not the candidate of our party in Rivers. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The clarification follows a Friday night interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time program, after which several media outlets misidentified Blessing Fubara Snr as the NDC’s official governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
During the broadcast, Fubara dismissed assertions that his political ambition is an extension of his younger brother’s administration, stating that they possess different political ideologies and individual perspectives.
