The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has said that only God can ultimately bring an end to Nigeria’s worsening insecurity challenges.
His remarks come amid a renewed wave of attacks and abductions across parts of the country, including recent incidents recorded in Oyo and Borno States between May 15 and 17.
According to an earlier report by Politics Nigeria, gunmen invaded three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting 39 students and seven teachers.
In Borno State, armed groups also attacked schools in Mussa, Askira-Uba Local Government Area, where 42 pupils were reportedly kidnapped.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Matawalle said tackling insecurity requires collective efforts from security agencies and citizens.
He urged Nigerians to support security operatives and pray for peace, while cautioning politicians against politicising insecurity.
