
Details have emerged regarding why the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, selected the former Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate for the 2027 election, as well as the reasons behind the delayed official announcement.
Atiku made the decision after considering candidates from both the South-East and South-West regions, Sources close to the party indicate.
The choice of a candidate from the South-South was made after recognizing Amaechi’s extensive network as a former governor of Rivers State and a former minister in the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, a network believed to be beneficial for the ticket.
Party insiders noted that after analyzing the situation, it became evident that choosing a candidate from the South-East would not provide any advantage, especially since Mr. Peter Obi is already running under another party’s banner. The initial plan was to select a governor
