
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored the name of the Labour Party (LP) candidate to the list of contenders for the Enugu senatorial by-election scheduled for June 20.
The Nenadi Usman-led leadership of the party had, on Monday, sued the commission at the federal high court in Abuja over the alleged “wrongful exclusion” of its candidate from the forthcoming election.
However, in a statement on Saturday, Ken Asogwa, spokesperson of the LP, said INEC has corrected the omission following an engagement with the leadership of the party.
“The Labour Party wishes to commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for correcting the earlier omission of the party and its candidate from the list of contestants for the forthcoming Enugu North Senatorial District by-election scheduled for June 20, 2026,” the statement reads.
