Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said that the South-East will adopt President Bola Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Umahi made the statement during an inspection of ongoing federal road projects across Ebonyi State over the weekend.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Francis Nwaze, the minister said the region is appreciative of the infrastructure projects being executed under the Tinubu administration.
“South-East is very appreciative of what the President is doing. By Monday, under the leadership of the Governor of Ebonyi State, we will demonstrate this appreciation when we adopt the President as our sole candidate,” Umahi said.
Speaking at the project sites, the minister noted several federal projects in the South-East, describing them as evidence of the administration’s commitment to inclusion and development in the region.
He also disclosed that the Federal Government has made provisions in the 2026 budget to connect a major road corridor to the Ebonyi State capital.
The minister assured contractors that despite payment delays, work should continue uninterrupted.
“All contractors being owed will be paid. There should be no stoppage of work because we want to see if we can commission this project by December,” he said.
The minister maintained that the people of the South-East have taken notice of the projects being delivered and are prepared to publicly show their support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
