Warri Reps Aspirant Sues NDC for ₦5bn Over Cancelled Primary

Sheriff Mulade, Niger Delta environmental activist and aspirant for the Warri Federal Constituency seat under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed a ₦5 billion lawsuit against the party over its decision to scrap the outcome of its primary election.

Mulade, who holds the traditional title of Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, accused the NDC of abandoning a democratic process in favor of what he described as “an unknown selection or appointment system.” 

He alleged that the party’s leadership had been influenced by financial contributions and nomination form sales, turning candidate selection into a bidding contest.

In a statement released in Warri, Mulade expressed disappointment, saying: “We were taken aback by the NDC, which many Nigerians saw as a saviour. Little did we know that the vehicle we boarded was gambling with Nigerians’ future.”

While acknowledging respect for the party’s national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Mulade insisted that the party had compromised its integrity.
