2027 election: Ebonyi group urges issue-based campaign

The Association of Ebonyi Indigenes Socio-Cultural in the Diaspora has called on political actors in Ebonyi State to focus on issues, leadership capacity and development plans ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group made the call in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday while reacting to recent political activities in the state, including an endorsement rally organised in support of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s second-term bid and a separate press conference in Abakaliki.

The group President, Paschal Oluchukwu, said the developments reflected growing political engagement ahead of the 2027 polls and underscored the need for constructive discourse on the future of the state.

According to him, political leaders should continue to engage stakeholders across Ebonyi as discussions on the state’s future leadership gather momentum.

The group also expressed support for the position taken by the Umuekumenyi Leaders Council in supporting the PDP’s governorship aspiration for 2027 election.
