The Lagos State Government has unveiled a traffic diversion arrangement ahead of the temporary shutdown of Iddo Bridge in the Ijora axis of Apapa Local Government Area as rehabilitation work continues on the structure.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

According to the government, the closure became necessary to enable the Federal Ministry of Works to install heavy steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of the bridge.

The state government explained that vehicular movement on the bridge would be temporarily suspended during specified periods to ensure safety during the installation exercise.

“The entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge,” the statement noted.

Authorities said the closure would take effect on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., while another shutdown is scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Motorists were advised to make use of alternative routes during the affected periods.

The government stated that road users travelling from Oyingbo and Yaba toward Ijora Olopa, Apapa and Costain should divert through Funsho Williams Avenue to continue their journeys.

It further directed motorists heading from Marina to Ijora Olopa, Apapa and Costain to descend through the ramp linking Iddo-Onigbe and Oyingbo before connecting to Murtala Muhammed Way.
