Nigeria’s Future Prosperity Depends on Digital Technology — FG

The Federal Government has said Nigeria’s future economic growth, competitiveness and public service delivery will largely depend on the country’s ability to leverage digital technology.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, stated this on Wednesday while declaring open the Digital Transformation Summit 2026 in Abuja.

Akume, who also chairs the Board of Directors of Galaxy Backbone Limited, described digital innovation as a critical driver of national development and urged stronger collaboration among federal, state and local governments to advance Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

“The future of governance will be digital. The future of economic competitiveness will be digital. The future of public service delivery will be digital,” he said.

The summit, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of Galaxy Backbone, brought together government officials, technology experts and stakeholders to discuss strategies for deepening digital governance and innovation across the country.
