SDP’s Adebayo Makes Shocking Claims on Why Banditry Persists in Nigeria


The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has alleged that some Nigerian political leaders rely on bandits to secure electoral victories and benefit from the country’s security challenges.

Adebayo made the claim during an interview while commenting on the persistent threat of banditry and terrorism across the country.

According to him, the government has the capacity to eliminate banditry if there is sufficient political will to do so.

“If I were President today, there would be no bandits. If President Bola Tinubu decides that he does not want bandits in Nigeria by Christmas this year, banditry will end,” Adebayo said.

He argued that successive governments have failed to decisively tackle insecurity because some officials benefit from the situation.

“The government can get rid of bandits effortlessly if it truly wants to. But government officials have complicated the issue.
