President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to bolster security operations in Katsina State.Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda disclosed this while briefing journalists after a meeting with Islamic clerics and other stakeholders at the Government House in Katsina on Wednesday.
The governor said the engagement with religious leaders formed part of the state government’s broader efforts to tackle insecurity through community involvement and stakeholder collaboration.
“The purpose of this meeting is to hear directly from Islamic clerics, understand their perspectives on the current security challenges, and seek their advice on the way forward,” Radda stated.
He emphasised that insecurity cannot be addressed by security agencies alone, stressing the need for active community participation.
The governor noted that investigations revealed some residents are aiding criminal elements through intelligence sharing, logistics support, and the sale of stolen livestock.
