Sources in the area said the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m., while the traditional ruler was returning home after attending traditional council meeting in Bokkos.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed the Katsina State Police Command to intensify security around schools across the state as part of efforts to safeguard students, teachers and educational facilities from security threats.
