The Enugu state government and the police have announced different timelines for movement restrictions ahead of Saturday’s senatorial bye-election in Enugu North.
In a public service announcement issued on Friday, the state government said movement would be restricted from 6am to 4pm across the six LGAs in the senatorial district.
Earlier on Thursday the Enugu police command announced a total restriction of human and vehicular movement from 12am to 6pm on election day.
The bye-election is being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant Enugu north senatorial seat.
In a statement signed by Chidiebere Onyia, secretary to the state government, residents were informed that movement would be restricted across the district’s six LGAs and 102 electoral wards during the voting period.
The affected LGAs are Igbo-Etiti, Igbo-Eze north, Igbo-Eze south, Nsukka, Udenu and Uzo-Uwani.
