The Maltina Teacher of the Year 2025, Serah Yusuf, has unveiled a new initiative aimed at improving access to quality education for children in underserved and slum communities.
The Sustainable Education and Empowerment through Digital Foundation, unveiled in Abuja, according to Yusuf, is a platform focused on transforming slum communities through education, digital literacy, mentorship, leadership development and empowerment programmes.
Serah of Wisdom International School of Excellence in Abuja was, in November 2025, announced as the winner of the N10m grand prize at the grand finale of the 11th edition of the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition, held in Lagos.
Pointing to her emergence from the slum, Serah has remained an advocate for underprivileged children in underserved communities.
Through her “Voice from the Slum” Initiative, Serah, before now, provides support for children in underserved communities through the provision of financial aid, textbooks for those who cannot afford them, school
