The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the air component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, has sustained relentless air operations against terrorists and armed bandits across the North West, delivering precision strikes on identified criminal enclaves while intensifying intelligence, surveillance and armed reconnaissance missions in support of ongoing joint operations.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, said in a statement that the coordinated missions conducted on 18 and 19 June, 2026, underscored the NAF’s unwavering resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action and reinforce security across the theatre.
The statement revealed that acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft successfully struck a confirmed terrorist stronghold within the Joint Operations Area, disrupting the activities of criminal elements and degrading their operational capability.
In a separate intelligence-led mission around Kidandan, NAF aircraft successfully neutralised terrorists after positively identifying their movement within the area.
Follow-up reconnaissance over Fatika and Sabuwa confirmed the absence of further terrorist activity, while sustained aerial surveillance continued in support of friendly ground forces and ongoing operations across the theatre.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has consistently emphasised that “decisive air power delivers its greatest effect when seamlessly integrated with surface operations.
“In line with this strategic vision, the Nigerian Air Force continues to employ intelligence-driven air power in close synergy with ground forces to decisively neutralise terrorists, protect innocent lives and restore lasting peace and security across the North West,” the statement said.
