Okonkwo open to Wrexham stay

Super Eagles goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo appears increasingly open to extending his stay at Wrexham, despite growing speculation over his long-term future at the club ahead of the summer transfer window, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old is contracted to the Dragons until the end of the 2026/27 season, but no agreement has yet been reached over an extension, raising the possibility that he could leave if talks fail to progress.

Okonkwo began his career at Arsenal but struggled for first-team opportunities due to strong competition, eventually joining Wrexham on loan during the 2023/24 season before the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club made the move permanent the following summer. He has since developed into one of the side’s standout performers.

Former Premier League champions Leicester City are reportedly among the clubs monitoring his situation, but Okonkwo insisted his focus remains on helping Wrexham push for promotion to the Premier League
