The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has dismissed claims by critics that he lacks the capacity to govern the state, insisting that his over three decades of experience in business, agriculture and politics have adequately prepared him to lead Ogun.

Adebutu also defended himself against allegations that he has lived off the wealth of his father, billionaire businessman Kensington Adebutu, stating that he has built successful businesses of his own, created jobs and contributed to economic development through investments in agriculture and agro-processing.

Speaking during a media parley with journalists in Abeokuta on Monday, the PDP governorship hopeful said he had consistently used his personal resources to support humanitarian causes and community development since joining politics in 1992.

The event was attended by the state PDP chairman, Abayomi Tella; the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo; and former senator Iyabo Obasanjo, among other party leaders.
